Please Note: I was given this product in return for a genuine and impartial review.

Model: HV-KB558CM (UK Layout)

Packaging:
Comes in a plain black box with some writing in silver which says “Hello!, thanks for choosing Havit.” For me, there is no real design for the packaging, which is a big shame this space on the box could have been utilized better to promote their product. On one side of the box, there is a relatively big sticker that gives you some information regarding specifications and some details about the product

What’s in the Box:

  • Happy Card
  • User Manual
  • Wired Gaming Mouse
  • Wired Gaming Keyboard

What do you get for your money?
The keyboard is nice and sturdy, and this particular model is black. On the bottom like most these days, there are two legs that fold out to lift the keyboard up to a slight angle, and there are also two rubber feet to stop the keyboard from sliding around on your desk which I found does this well. This keyboard also has some other cool features like Win Lock, pressing the Fn + Win key then locks out the Win Key to stop you accidentally calling up the start menu during gameplay. You also have the standard multimedia combination keys FN + 1 to 12.

As this is a gaming keyboard, it has Anti-Ghosting technology built-in. If you’re a gamer, you will understand what this means. If not, it means that the keyboard can process a single keystroke to several keystrokes simultaneous without losing any function within gameplay. I love how the LED lights make the keys visible at night, and this is because the letters and numbers are see-through. There are three light modes, Pulsing, Solid On, and Off. I prefer the pulsing mode, which has three different speeds, all of which are relevantly slow. Also, you can adjust the brightness too.

I did not have any issues with writing this review while the LED lights slowly pulse away. Not only does this look great but is practical when you’re in the dark too!

The Havit keyboard is straightforward to set up just plug the USB cable in, and your OS (Operating System) will do all the setting up. The function keys all work well pressing the email, web browser or desktop buttons activate the applications quickly and without having to move the mouse.  A disappointing note though if your OS (Operating System) is either Mac or Linux, then multimedia keys won’t work.

The Mouse:

The mouse feels comfortable in your hand and has one scroll wheel, five buttons, and a dedicated button to select from 4 DPI settings. Each DPI setting has an assigned colour which lights up the mouse for a couple of seconds, so you know which DPI mode you have selected,  which is pretty cool. After the few seconds have passed the colour then reverts to pulsing through a cycle of seven different colours.

Conclusion:
You do get a lot for your money with this bundle, both keyboard and mouse are easy to use, and set up, and they feel comfortable. They are made to a good quality standard. The lighting on both Keyboard and mouse look cool while serving you well when working or playing at night time.

However, I do feel the keyboard is let down a little bit by the fact the multimedia keys don’t work with Mac or Linux. DPI settings are nothing new on mouses nowadays, but I like the fact you have a dedicate colour assigned to each DPI setting which flashes for a couple of seconds once selected. Not forgetting you do get 18 months warranty with this product even with some very expensive keyboards and mouses you only get 12 Months so a bonus in my eyes.

Definitely gets my approval 😊
